An Icelandic shoot for Monocle's premium paper, Alpino, was an unforgettable experience. We spent the week training with the team, most of whom are either students, or retirees, who love getting their hands dirty servicing the machinery.
It amazed me that these volunteers aren't paid a penny for their expertise and life-saving heroism. Inflation is so high in Iceland that the organisation is funded purely from donations.
